Gumdrop Cookies

1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup gumdrops, cut into pieces
2/3 cup sugar
1 egg, beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons milk
Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream shortening, add sugar and cream until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs and vanilla.
Add flour mixture with milk, beating well after each addition.
Stir in gumdrops.
Drop by teaspoonfulls,two inches apart on greased sheet.
Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
REMOVE FROM SHEET AT ONCE.
Makes 30 cookies.
